Dentist: Dr Luca Pomaré

Dr Luca joined Leichhardt Dental and Haberfield Dental after completing a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Sydney. Prior to becoming a dentist, Dr Luca completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours and worked for many years in a local community pharmacy in Leichhardt. Dr Luca also conducted research in respiratory medicines in paediatric asthma at the Woolcock Institute. His experience of working in other roles within the healthcare team has helped Dr Luca develop a strong patient-centered approach to dentistry.   

Dr Luca enjoys all aspects of dentistry, loves solving patient’s dental problems and understands the importance and change that a smile can bring to one’s life and health. He has a special passion for cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics and has completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Digital Orthodontics. He has a special interest in using clear aligners such as Invisalign to help create the smiles that patients have always dreamed of. He is at the forefront of dentistry when it comes to the latest techniques and equipment and is always on the lookout for new and better ways to help his patients. 

Dr Luca is a member of the International Team of Implantology, Australian Clear Aligner Society and the Australian Dental Association. He has also undergone training in dental implants in both Australia, South Korea and through New York University. Dr Luca has also spent time in rural Cambodia to treat and improve the oral health of people in disadvantaged areas. 

Outside of dentistry you will probably find Dr Luca in the grandstand of any sporting event or on the sporting field itself. He also loves spending time with his family, especially his young little boy.

Dentist: Dr Silvano Pomaré

Dr Silvano Pomaré obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Sydney University in 1981 and is also a member of the Australian Dental Association.

Dr Pomaré has practiced in Leichhardt since 1981, taking over the practice in 1986. During this time he has seen many generations of families come through his practice and loves when his regular long-term patients bring in their children for their first dental visits. His gentle, kind and compassionate approach helps his patients feel at ease and relaxed during their dental visits. He is commited to continuing education in dentistry and regularly attends lectures and seminars to keep abreast of the latest advances in dentistry. He is also a member of the Australian Dental Association.

In his spare time Dr Pomaré enjoys keeping fit through cycling, loves spending time with his family and has a passion for classic Italian cars.

Dentist: Dr Patrick Romano

Dr Patrick graduated from the University of Sydney with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). Prior to becoming a dentist, he completed a Bachelor of Advanced Science majoring in Chemistry and Physiology. Patrick has experience treating a diverse range of patients all across Sydney and is also currently working as a Dentist in a Public Hospital.

Dr Patrick has a relaxed and empathetic approach to dentistry and takes pride in providing the optimal treatment for his patients. He enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, and has a special interest in restorative treatment and root canal therapy. Patrick is committed to staying up to date with the best evidence-based practice and is invested highly in continuing his own education.

In his spare time, Patrick enjoys all things sports, both watching and playing, and loves spending time with family and friends.

Dentist: Dr Wendy Nguyen

Dr Wendy Nguyen is a born and bred Sydneysider who graduated from The University of Sydney with a Bachelor in Diagnostic Radiography before also completing the Doctor of Dental Medicine. 

Dr Wendy had been a healthcare provider for many years before moving north to work regionally. She served the beautiful Hunter Valley community in private practice for nearly 7 years before returning to Sydney. She has volunteered for various dental projects including the Australian Dental Association Red Cross Day where she provides free dental treatment for asylum seekers. 

Clinically, Dr Wendy takes a conservative and preventative approach to dentistry and values the trust patients put in her. In order to provide the best evidence based dentistry, Dr Wendy regularly updates her clinical skills through various continuing education courses. She has completed a 3 year orthodontic residency and diploma to further her skills in providing clear aligners and braces. She also has a keen interest in Cerec (same day crowns) and root canal treatment.  

With a big smile and gentle little hands, Dr Wendy is well known for her calming character and nurturing nature which reflects her ability to relax even the most anxious patients. 

Outside of work she is a keen foodie, lover of artisan markets and enjoys playing netball, F45 and travelling. Dr Wendy looks forward to meeting you and keeping your smiles happy and healthy for many years to come.

Dentist: Dr Larissa Savvas

Dr Larissa is a friendly, approachable dentist who strives to understand her patients personally to meet their dental needs and enhance their overall dental wellbeing. Her philosophy in dentistry is to treat each of her patients the way she would want her family to be treated.

Born and raised in Sydney, Dr Larissa Savvas obtained her Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (First Class Honours) and Doctor of Dental Medicine degrees from The University of Sydney. Larissa regularly updates her knowledge and skills by attending dental seminars and courses. She is passionate about creating and maintaining healthy, beautiful smiles via patient education and providing optimal care. With her kind nature, and gentle hands, Larissa strives to alleviate any anxiety that her patients may have to ensure a positive experience.

Away from the clinic, Larissa enjoys exploring new places, epic walks with her dog, and spending time with her family and friends.

Dentist: Dr Sukhmani Gill

Raised in the great white north, Dr Sukhmani Gill has spent time living in the snowy mountains of Calgary, Canada where she graduated with Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of Calgary. After moving to the land down under for some warmth, she graduated from University of Sydney with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). Dr Sukhmani is known for her warm and compassionate manner continually making her patients feel at ease. She likes to take a patient-focused approach centred around empathy, communication, and building long-term connections with patients. Dr Sukhmani understands the importance of educating her patients on their oral health and is committed to providing the best care for her patients. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry especially preventative dentistry, restorative and children’s dentistry.

With a strong drive in pursuing clinical excellence, Dr Sukhmani continues to take advanced training in various specialties such as sedation dentistry, digital dentistry, endodontics, and oral surgery. She regularly stays up to date with new techniques and technology to ensure she can provide the best standard of care to her patients.

Dr Sukhmani also enjoys dental volunteering and has spent time in rural Nicaragua to treat and promote oral health to communities in need.

In her free time, she enjoys travelling, hiking, and trying new cuisines (did someone say pho-lossing?).

Dentist: Dr Peter Etcell

Dr Peter Etcell graduated from Sydney University in 1980, and immediately started his career in outback Queensland. This was followed by a partnership in beautiful Nambucca Heads, but the call of the city was strong. This resulted in owning his own Practice in Fairfield, which he enjoyed for many years. Dr Etcell is a member of The Australian Dental Association, and has a keen interest in Sleep Dentistry

Oral Health Therapist: Sally Doman

Sally is an OHT (combined Dental Therapist and Dental Hygienist) who graduated from the
University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2020. She maintained High Distinctions
throughout her studies and was awarded the Dean’s List of Excellence in Academic
Performance 2018, issued by the University Sydney School of Dentistry.

Sally takes great pride in helping patients of all ages maintain good oral health, with a focus on
their gum health, home care and prevention of oral diseases. She utilises a gentle approach
when providing high quality dental care to ensure that patients feel comfortable when visiting
the practice.

Besides practising dentistry, Sally enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as
outdoor activities like hiking and gardening.

Dentist: Dr Scott Williams

Dr Scott Williams graduated at the top of his class from the University of Adelaide in 2012. Scottwas overall Dux for the entire program and was awarded a University Medal, Faculty Medal, First Class Honours, as well as other numerous awards.

Scott has a keen interest in Oral Surgery and holds a Fellowship in Implantology from the University of Miami. He was one of the first dentists in Australia to undertake training in Dentofacial Aesthetics and enjoys being able to offer anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers to his patients. He was one of the first dentists in Australia to undertake extensive training in Biomimetic and Advanced Adhesive Dentistry and strives to provide the longest lasting and tooth conserving restorative options possible.

Scott has completed much of a PhD in Dental Epigenetics. He has lectured around the world and won several international competitions for his research. He was the recipient of the prestigious NHMRC Postgraduate Research Award, has held several grants, and is a published researcher.

In a past life, Scott was a professional musician. He still has a several music students and plays in a few bands. You’ll never see him in January because he is a tragic ski nut and is often teaching snow skiing.

 

Consulting Dental Surgeon: David Taub

Dr David Taub graduated with First Class Honours from Sydney University in 1995. In 2000, David was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons by examination and in 2003 he completed the Post Graduate Diploma Clinical Dentistry (Oral Implants)

Currently David is a surgical mentor in implant surgery at Charles Sturt University and the University of Sydney.

David has restricted his practice of dentistry to Oral Surgery and Implantology for the last 12 years.
