Our Technology

At Leichhardt Dental and Haberfield Dental, technology plays a pivotal role in diagnosis and helping to achieve perfect oral health and a beautiful smile. The state-of-the-art technology within Leichhardt Dental has been carefully chosen because of the clinical and diagnostic benefits to our patients as well as making appointments more comfortable and efficient.

Safe Rays | Digital Or Computerised X-Rays

Digital x-rays are one of the modern technologies used in dental diagnosis. We have a high tech digital x-ray system as we believe this offers you the best treatment as well as being efficient and safe, reducing the radiation to you by up to 90% over conventional dental X-ray systems. They also require no traditional developing so save time in the chair by delivering an x-ray image on the computer screen almost instantly. X-rays are essential to thorough treatment because they help us detect conditions that may not be visible in the mouth such as: decay between teeth or under existing fillings, receding bone (due to periodontal or gum disease), infected or abscessed teeth and fractured teeth. Without x-rays we are in the dark and just guessing about your dental and oral health!

Smile You’re On Camera | Intra Oral Camera

The better we can see the better we can detect and treat any problems our patients may have. Our intra oral camera magnifies and displays images onto a computer monitor, providing a clear picture of the teeth and oral structures. This aids a more accurate diagnosis of any dental issues and enables our dentists to show and explain these issues to our patients, pointing out areas of concern and discussing possible treatment options in greater detail. As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words!

Keeping Up With The Times | Modern Materials

As with many areas of our lives, materials and technology are constantly changing and improving. This is so with dentistry too. Long gone are the days of placing metal in teeth which led to cracked and weak teeth. Today’s materials encompass resins, ceramics and bonds that are strong, biologically compatible and durable.

Leichhardt Dental and Haberfield Dental always advise our patients of the different material choices available for their restorations, including their pros, cons and costs. We work with highly skilled and specialised laboratories to fabricate ‘works of art’ for the mouth, ensuring high quality and beautiful looking restorations

A New Twist | Root Canal Treatments With Rotary Drills

Sometimes, bacteria and decay, or a crack, will cause the nerve of the tooth to die and become painful.

In this case, a root canal treatment is required. This is cleaning the dead infected nerve from inside the root, allowing your tooth to be saved. This has traditionally been done using very small files, operated by the dentist’s hand, inside the root. Advances in technology now allow this to be done using titanium highly flexible files attached to a drill. Research has shown this to improve the effectiveness of the removal of the dead tissue from the root canal, increasing the expected outcome and success of root canal treatments.

Leichhardt Dental and Haberfield Dental have invested in this equipment and are trained in their use, regularly attending training seminars to keep up to date with this technology.

No More Messy Impressions | iTero Intraoral Scanner

Using the latest iTero Elements Plus intraoral scanner, taking an impression of your teeth has never been easier. We no longer need to use impression materials which are messy and take a long time to set. By using digital impressions we can quickly and accurately take dental moulds and send them to the lab. Not only are these impressions more pleasant for you but they are also more accurate. Using our iTero scanner we can do additional things such as monitor the wear on your teeth over time and also do an instant simulation of how Invisalign can improve your smile.
